HAMEL RODEO
THE FIRST 27 YEARS OVER $750,000 IN COMMUNITY SERVICE
We want to thank you for your interest in the 28th ANNUAL HAMEL RODEO and take this opportunity to answer some often asked questions about the rodeo.

WHO PUTS ON THE HAMEL RODEO?
The rodeo is owned in equal shares by six community service, non-profit organizations. They are the Hamel Volunteer Fire Department, Hamel Lions Club, Hamel Athletic Club, Heinzen-Ditter VFW Post, John Pohlker American Legion Post I-94 and the Northwest Suburban Chamber of Commerce.

WHO GETS THE PROCEEDS THE RODEO GENERATES?
All the proceeds are shared equally by the six organizations named above. In the first 27 years over $750,000 has been distributed in cash to these organizations for them to use as they see fit in community service.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PUT ON THE HAMEL RODEO?
The 2008 rodeo will cost over $250,000 to produce. A large share of that money is spent right here in our local community.

IS HAMEL RODEO REALLY A BIG RODEO, BECAUSE OTHER RODEOS SAY THEY ARE THE BIGGEST?
The Hamel Rodeo is the largest rodeo in the State of Minnesota on the basis of both total added money and total pay off. This year the contestants will take home approximately $120,000 to show for their efforts. The winner in the Bull Ridin' Bonanza will receive approximately $7,500. This is why many of the top name contestants will always be found at the Hamel Rodeo.
